apollo theater
253 West 125th Street, Harlem

In October, 1957, Bobby Darin played the Apollo Theater. He was 21 years old. His performance was 12 minutes long and included a medley of songs from Fats Domino and Ray Charles. In Jeff Bleiel's book, That's All, the author states, "Trying to please the Apollo audience was a tough assignment for any white performer, let alone one as inexperienced as Darin."
