This show is a real treat. Not only did we get to see Bob Rozario and the Bob Rozario Ensemble perform, but we got to experience a live entertainment/variety show reminiscent of The Merv Griffin Show and The Mike Douglas Show. Like those two hosts, Dennis Bono is an all-around showman who hosts, sings, shmoozes with the guests, and entertains a live audience. And he's funny, too! As the show's 'Ed McMahon,' announcer Scott O'Neil contributes his very pleasing voice and personality, thereby rounding out the experience very nicely. The fun part is you never know who is going to stop by or what Dennis is going to sing. The day we were there, Dennis blew us away by singing two Bobby Darin songs: Beyond The Sea and 18 Yellow Roses. He also talked a great deal about the great Bobby Darin throughout his show and, of course, told everyone about the musical tribute coming up on Saturday. We tried not to squirm too much in our seats! Also, Teddy Davey stopped by to 'wow' us by singing Don't Rain On My Parade. The biggest surprise was when Rich Little showed up as a guest on the show. Many will remember him as the world renowned impressionist of his day. It was a real treat to see him still performing. He was in fine form and looked fabulous. Lori Slinn did a very cool thing by donating several Bobby Darin CDs and DVDs to the show. These were given away in a raffle right before the show. Another very cool thing is that we got to set up a table for the Bobby Darin postage stamp campaign where people could sign letters before and after the show. We spoke to some very interesting people, many of whom told us they were coming to the musical tribute on Saturday. They were all connoisseurs of fine entertainment and so, of course, they loved Bobby Darin. They were all so lovely and were more than happy to sign a letter to help him receive a postage stamp. After the show, even Mr. Bob Rozario signed a letter for Bobby! Our stamp campaign went very well. We collected well over 100 letters! We are not sure of the total count because many people took letters to mail themselves. We hope very much that this helps the postage stamp decision committee at the U.S. postal service stand up and take notice of Bobby Darin.
