(on the occasion of Bobby Darin's 70th birthday)

A small, birdlike boy with deep brown earth eyes that see out as well as in.

As he is fettered to his bed, his soul waits restive and watchful
To be released from the pain in which his body finds itself.
Walden's walls will crumble and music will be the method and cure.
Polly, Nina and Charlie bring him music and love.
It awakens his soul and transcends all.
The pain dissolves and flies into the clouds beyond the sea.

He shares his special magic and gifts with the rest of us.
He knows he won't be here for long (physically, at least) and Transforms himself into Bobby Darin. This name is fitting.

He's always going and active
Bobbing
like a sandpiper on a beach;
D
aring to do anything and everything.
Walden doesn't fit anymore because all of his walls are gone.
His Jericho collapses and the music just POURS forth!

He seems to inspire everyone! The people who knew him still love and miss him, and even people who never met him feel as if they had.

Bobby has ultimately cheated and laughed at death because
At 70 years on, he is still very much HERE—and being REBORN
All the time.

Remember the line in Beyond the Sea: "Bobby Darin doesn't die." Little Walden with all of his pains does, but what ROSE in his place when the pain was gone is the GLORIOUS and AWE-inspiring comet of talent and intellect that IS:

BOBBY DARIN!!!
